Yr Hen Stabl | Wales Holiday Cottage

Out and about

There’s plenty to do while you stay in wales at the holiday cottage from cycling, walking, canoeing to fly fishing. For adrenalin junkies, there is the Tryweryn National Whitewater Centre in Bala so you can experience the thrill of the Welsh rapids.

Walking enthusiasts are in easy reach of the Glyndwr’s Way National Trail – a 132 mile trial set in the heart of Mid Wales, dedicated to the 15th century warrior and self proclaimed Prince Owain Glyndwr. There are also a number of great walks right from the self catering holiday cottage.

Those looking for a bit of nature and history in Wales won’t be disappointed with a visit to the medieval Powis Castle in Welshpool or a trip to Glansevern Hall Garden, where you will find 20 acres of garden noted for its unusual tree species.

For families, there is also the Centre of Alternative Technology in Machynlleth, Fantasy Farm Park in Aberystwyth and the King Arthur’s Labyrinth also in Machynlleth, where you sail underground through the great waterfall deep inside the spectacular caverns of the labyrinth, enjoying tales of King Arthur and other ancient legends.

We are also only 1 mile away from the Mark Higgins Rally School and 3.4 miles from the Mid Wales Shooting center (clay pigeon).  We also have two fishing ponds only 500 meters away form the property (daily/ weekly permits can be obtained) so fishing is only a short walk away.
